How to make the universal testing machine (UTM) run better?

Universal material testing machine is mainly used to test the strength of materials, deformation properties and the corresponding resulting stress.

HORIZON TECHNOLOGY specialized in Electronic universal testing machines, hydraulic universal testing machines, compression testing machines and other mechanical testing machines for more than 10 years.

Maintaining a universal testing machine (UTM) is crucial to ensure its proper functioning, accuracy, and longevity. Let's talk about how to maintain the universal testing machine:

1. Read the manufacturer's manual: Familiarize yourself with the specific maintenance recommendations provided by the UTM manufacturer. The manual will outline the necessary maintenance procedures and schedules for your particular machine.

2. Keep the machine clean: Regularly clean the UTM to remove dust, debris, and contaminants. Use a soft cloth or brush to clean the surfaces, and ensure that no foreign materials interfere with the machine's moving parts.

3. Lubrication: Follow the manufacturer's guidelines for lubrication. Some parts of the UTM may require periodic lubrication to reduce friction and ensure smooth operation. Use the recommended lubricants and apply them according to the specified intervals.

4. Calibration: Perform regular calibration of the UTM to maintain accuracy. Calibration ensures that the machine is measuring and displaying test results correctly. Follow the calibration schedule provided by the manufacturer and use certified calibration standards or weights.

5. Inspections: Conduct routine inspections to identify any signs of wear, damage, or malfunction. Check for loose connections, worn-out components, or any abnormalities in the machine's operation. If any issues are detected, consult the manufacturer or a qualified technician for further assessment and repair.

6. Software and firmware updates: If your UTM is equipped with software or firmware, keep it up to date. Manufacturers often release updates to improve performance, add features, or fix bugs. Check the manufacturer's website or contact their customer support to  inquire about any available updates.

7. Safety precautions: Ensure that safety features and mechanisms, such as emergency stops, protective shields, and interlocks, are functioning properly. Test these safety features periodically to verify their effectiveness.

8. Training and user knowledge: Provide proper training to the operators who will be using the UTM. Educate them on the correct operating procedures, safety protocols, and maintenance practices. Well-informed and trained users can help prevent damage to the machine and identify issues early on.

8. Keep records: Maintain a maintenance log or record of all the maintenance activities performed on the UTM. This log should include details such as date of maintenance, procedures performed, calibration records, and any issues or repairs conducted. This documentation will help tr ack maintenance history and provide a reference for future maintenance or troubleshooting.

10. Professional servicing: Periodically, consider having a professional service technician inspect and service the UTM. They can perform more in-depth maintenance, conduct thorough inspections, and address any complex issues that may arise.
